Investment Associate

Main Role

The Investment Associate will assist Metavallon’s Partners in analyzing and evaluating investment targets, by researching sector trends, key characteristics and differentiating factors to support decision making. The Investment Associate is also expected to assist in regular portfolio company monitoring. The position is based in Athens and reports to Metavallon’s Partners.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate a network in the tech startup ecosystem to proactively source interesting start-ups, including by attending events and conferences
  • Attend pitch meetings with founders
  • Analyze potential investment targets based on a combination of quantitative, qualitative, and tech criteria; compile investment memos
  • Assist with transaction execution, including deal structuring, due diligence, and legal documentation
  • Monitor target sectors and technologies, trends, and future developments internationally, and produce regular digests
  • Follow the startup investment scene in Greece, Europe and internationally and prepare comparative analysis on how markets and industries are evolving
  • Monitor portfolio companies’ performance, KPIs, etc. post-investment and assist in their development, incl. recruitment, fundraising, and business development

Skills & Essential Requirements

  • Strong academic background with BSc in Engineering, IT, or Economics/ Business, or equivalent discipline; ideally, an ICT background combined with a good understanding of business dynamics, incl. market & competition analysis
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in tech investments, consulting, technology, or startups (notprimarily finance);
  • Tech-savvy, with either hands-on experience in, or good understanding of, cutting-edge technology; demonstrated interest & initiative in keeping abreast of tech developments
  • Excel & Powerpoint proficiency
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills in English and Greek
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently under limited supervision and take initiative in a fast-paced environment; strong personal motivation

Desirable Qualifications

  • Understanding of the economic fundamentals and mechanisms of Venture Capital
  • Operational experience in a startup environment
  • Initial network of startups or investors
  • Master’s degree or MBA an asset

Finance & Operations Analyst

Main Role

The Analyst will support Metavallon’s Partners in the execution of investments and day-to-day fund operations. The Analyst is also expected to assist in regular portfolio company monitoring and lead ongoing financial and operational tasks like reporting to the Fund’s institutional and private investors. The position is based in Athens and reports to Metavallon’s Partners.

Responsibilities

  • Track fund metrics and prepare reports and information bulletins to Investors on a quarterly and yearly basis
  • Assist in the financial operations of the funds and management company, incl. KYC/AML processes
  • Lead data collection from portfolio companies for fund reporting; monitor their performance, KPIs, etc. post-investment and assist in their development, incl. recruitment, fundraising, and business development
  • Assist with transaction execution, including deal structuring, due diligence, and legal documentation
  • Assist with fundraising materials
  • Supporting fund marketing and events

Essential Requirements

  • BSc in Economics/Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent discipline;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in/or finance, accounting & managerial reporting
  • Excel & Powerpoint proficiency
  • Tech-savvy, with either hands-on experience in, or good understanding of, cutting-edge technology; demonstrated interest & initiative in keeping abreast of tech developments
  • Good understanding of startup finances & operations
  • Experience in managerial reporting for business decision and information purposes, including structuring, automating and improving reports
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills in English and Greek
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently under limited supervision and take initiative in a fast-paced environment; strong personal motivation

Desirable Qualifications
