BUSINESS ANALYSIS ASSOCIATE
Location: Athens, Greece

Main Role

The Business Analysis Associate will assist the Fund’s General Partners in analyzing and evaluating investment targets, by researching sector trends, key characteristics and differentiating factors to support decision making. The Business Analysis Associate is also expected to assist in regular company portfolio monitoring and support ongoing financial and operational tasks like reporting to the Fund’s institutional and private investors. The position is based in Athens and reports to the General Partners.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze potential investment targets based on a combination of quantitative, qualitative, and tech criteria
  • Closely monitor target sectors and technologies, trends, and future developments internationally, and produce regular digests
  • Follow the startup investment scene in Greece, Europe and internationally and prepare comparative analysis on how markets and industries are evolving
  • Monitor portfolio companies’ performance, KPIs, etc. post-investment and assist in their development
  • Prepare reports and information bulletins to Investors on a quarterly, bi-yearly and yearly basis
  • Assist in the financial operations of the fund and management company

Essential Requirements

  • BSc in Engineering or Economics/ Finance, or equivalent discipline; ideally, an ICT background combined with finance/economics
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in investments, consulting, banking, research or technology
  • Tech-savvy, with either hands-on experience in, or good understanding of, cutting-edge technology; demonstrated interest & initiative in keeping abreast of tech developments
  • Experience in managerial reporting for business decision and information purposes, including structuring, automating and improving reports
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills in English and Greek
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and strong personal motivation

Desirable Qualifications

  • Understanding of the economic fundamentals and mechanisms of Venture Capital
  • Operational experience in a startup environment
  • Masters degree an asset
  • Additional languages (business level) a plus

OFFICE AND COMMUNITY ASSOCIATE
Location: Athens, Greece

Main Role

The Office and Community Associate will assist the Fund’s overall operations and ensure the smooth day to day running of the fund and its office space. The Office and Community Associate is expected to support ongoing tasks, communicate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders and other community members to keep abreast business developments. The position is based in Athens and reports to the General Partners.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations for the smooth running of the Fund
  • Act as a first level response to all incoming queries, clarifications and requests
  • Keep public information of Metavallon VC (website, social media, professional representations) up to date and assist with copywriting
  • Liaise with local and international media and event organizers for Press Releases, event participations and other public engagements
  • Communicate with professional services (accountants, lawyers, auditors a.o.) to support the ongoing responsibilities of the Fund
  • Connect with potential investee companies and portfolio companies for ongoing tasks and projects
  • Support the Operations Manager in ongoing tasks for team evaluations, ongoing monitoring and quarterly obligations
  • Participate in preliminary sector and technology research to support decision making

Essential Requirements

  • BSc of any discipline; ideally, an ICT background combined with Business Administration/ Marketing & Communications /Economics
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience
  • Demonstrated interest & initiative in keeping abreast of tech developments
  • Ambitious, hardworking and with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills in English and Greek
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and strong personal motivation

RESEARCH AND OPERATIONS INTERN
Location: Athens, Greece

Main Role

The Research and Operations intern will work horizontally and alongside the Fund’s General Partners and the Metavallon VC team, facilitating the Fund’s overall and daily operations. The Intern will be contributing and gaining exposure in market research, investment processes, community activities, and internal venture capital operations and administration. The position is based in Athens and reports to the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Daily operations and office facilitation
  • EU Startup ecosystem and event monitoring
  • Startup dealflow tracking and data recording
  • Regulatory and legal documentation processing
  • Corporate communications support
  • Marketing activities assistance
  • Market research and intelligence reports in cutting edge technologies

Essential Requirements

  • Currently enrolled University student or recent graduate
  • Background in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Chemistry, Business, Economics or similar
  • Eligible for subsidised internship from University, State or other program (such as Erasmus + Traineeship program, ESPA funds etc)
  • Demonstrated interest & initiative in keeping abreast of tech developments
  • Structured and analytical mindset, ability to deliver on deadlines
  • Curious minded, can-do mindset and passionate about tech and business
  • Available for at least 3 months
  • Fluent in Greek and English

Desirable Qualifications

  • Prior experience with startups/ entrepreneurship
  • Experience with industry research and financial analysis
  • Experience in organising and running events
  • Experience in content marketing and social media
